What the Gap Wood Day Master is like
Gap is Yang Wood: the trunk of a large tree. It grows toward the light and does not bend easily. People with a Gap Day Master tend to set a direction and keep pushing, and they are often the ones who start things others later join.
The strength is reach and integrity. A tree does not pretend to be a vine. The blind spot is the same trait seen from the other side: Gap can be slow to change course once committed, and may read compromise as weakness.
At work, Gap does best where there is room to build something over years, with clear ownership. Being micromanaged, or being asked to bend quietly to someone else's plan, wears it down faster than hard work does.
A Day Master describes temperament, not destiny. Whether these traits help or hurt depends on the rest of the chart — above all, whether Wood is strong or weak in it.
How the ten stems relate to Gap Wood
Saju reads every other character as one of the Ten Gods (十神) relative to your Day Master. For a Gap Wood person, the stems mean this:
| Stem | Element | Ten God for Gap |
|---|---|---|
| Gap Wood (甲) | Yang Wood | Companion (Friend) |
| Eul Wood (乙) | Yin Wood | Rob Wealth (Rival) |
| Byeong Fire (丙) | Yang Fire | Eating God (Output) |
| Jeong Fire (丁) | Yin Fire | Hurting Officer (Expression) |
| Mu Earth (戊) | Yang Earth | Indirect Wealth |
| Gi Earth (己) | Yin Earth | Direct Wealth |
| Gyeong Metal (庚) | Yang Metal | Seven Killings (Pressure) |
| Sin Metal (辛) | Yin Metal | Direct Officer (Authority) |
| Im Water (壬) | Yang Water | Indirect Resource |
| Gye Water (癸) | Yin Water | Direct Resource (Support) |
Gap combines with Gi Earth (己) (a stem combination, 天干合) and clashes with Gyeong Metal (庚) (天干沖).
The twelve branches through Gap's eyes
The Twelve Life Stages (十二運星) show how much footing Gap Wood has in each branch. "Prosperity" and "Peak" are where it stands on its own roots; "Tomb" and "Severance" are where it has the least.
| Branch | Element | Life stage |
|---|---|---|
| Ja (子) · Rat | Water | Bath |
| Chuk (丑) · Ox | Earth | Coming of Age |
| In (寅) · Tiger | Wood | Prosperity |
| Myo (卯) · Rabbit | Wood | Peak |
| Jin (辰) · Dragon | Earth | Decline |
| Sa (巳) · Snake | Fire | Sickness |
| O (午) · Horse | Fire | Death |
| Mi (未) · Goat | Earth | Tomb |
| Sin (申) · Monkey | Metal | Severance |
| Yu (酉) · Rooster | Metal | Conception |

Frequently asked questions
- What does a Gap Wood Day Master mean?
- It means the first character of your day pillar is 甲 (Gap), Yang Wood. Korean Saju pictures it as a tall tree. Upright, direct, and built to grow in one direction.
- Which stem combines with Gap Wood?
- Gi Earth (己). Its clash partner is Gyeong Metal (庚).
- Is the Day Master the same as my zodiac animal?

- Your Day Master (Ilgan) is the Heavenly Stem of your birth day pillar among the 10 stems (Gap/Eul Wood, Byeong/Jeong Fire, Mu/Gi Earth, Gyeong/Sin Metal, Im/Gye Water). Enter your birth year, month, and day in the HeartLoop calculator on this page to compute your exact Day Master and Five Elements ratio in 3 seconds.
- What is my 2027 fortune based on my birth date?
- 2027 is the Year of the Red Fire Goat (Ding-Mi, 丁未). Rather than relying on birth-year zodiac alone, HeartLoop cross-references 2027 Fire-Earth energy against your personal Day Master and solar-term month pillar to pinpoint your peak months for career, wealth, and love.
