What the Im Water Day Master is like
Im is Yang Water: the ocean, a large river. It moves, connects, and carries a lot. Im Day Masters are usually curious, broad in outlook, and drawn to travel, ideas, and big pictures.
The strength is range and adaptability. The blind spot is that water without banks floods: Im can scatter its energy, resist commitment, or underestimate how much its moods move other people.
Im does well in work with movement and scope — trade, media, logistics, strategy, anything international — and less well in narrow, repetitive roles.
A Day Master describes temperament, not destiny. Whether these traits help or hurt depends on the rest of the chart — above all, whether Water is strong or weak in it.
How the ten stems relate to Im Water
Saju reads every other character as one of the Ten Gods (十神) relative to your Day Master. For a Im Water person, the stems mean this:
| Stem | Element | Ten God for Im |
|---|---|---|
| Gap Wood (甲) | Yang Wood | Eating God (Output) |
| Eul Wood (乙) | Yin Wood | Hurting Officer (Expression) |
| Byeong Fire (丙) | Yang Fire | Indirect Wealth |
| Jeong Fire (丁) | Yin Fire | Direct Wealth |
| Mu Earth (戊) | Yang Earth | Seven Killings (Pressure) |
| Gi Earth (己) | Yin Earth | Direct Officer (Authority) |
| Gyeong Metal (庚) | Yang Metal | Indirect Resource |
| Sin Metal (辛) | Yin Metal | Direct Resource (Support) |
| Im Water (壬) | Yang Water | Companion (Friend) |
| Gye Water (癸) | Yin Water | Rob Wealth (Rival) |
Im combines with Jeong Fire (丁) (a stem combination, 天干合) and clashes with Byeong Fire (丙) (天干沖).
The twelve branches through Im's eyes
The Twelve Life Stages (十二運星) show how much footing Im Water has in each branch. "Prosperity" and "Peak" are where it stands on its own roots; "Tomb" and "Severance" are where it has the least.
| Branch | Element | Life stage |
|---|---|---|
| Ja (子) · Rat | Water | Peak |
| Chuk (丑) · Ox | Earth | Decline |
| In (寅) · Tiger | Wood | Sickness |
| Myo (卯) · Rabbit | Wood | Death |
| Jin (辰) · Dragon | Earth | Tomb |
| Sa (巳) · Snake | Fire | Severance |
| O (午) · Horse | Fire | Conception |
| Mi (未) · Goat | Earth | Nurturing |
| Sin (申) · Monkey | Metal | Birth |
| Yu (酉) · Rooster | Metal | Bath |
| Sul (戌) · Dog | Earth | Coming of Age |
| Hae (亥) · Pig | Water | Prosperity |

Frequently asked questions
- What does a Im Water Day Master mean?
- It means the first character of your day pillar is 壬 (Im), Yang Water. Korean Saju pictures it as the sea or a great river. Broad-minded, restless, and hard to contain.
- Which stem combines with Im Water?
- Jeong Fire (丁). Its clash partner is Byeong Fire (丙).
- Is the Day Master the same as my zodiac animal?
- No. Your animal comes from the year branch and is shared by everyone born that year. The Day Master comes from your birth day, changes every day, and is what Saju actually reads you by.
- How do I know my Day Master in K-Saju?
- Your Day Master (Ilgan) is the Heavenly Stem of your birth day pillar among the 10 stems (Gap/Eul Wood, Byeong/Jeong Fire, Mu/Gi Earth, Gyeong/Sin Metal, Im/Gye Water). Enter your birth year, month, and day in the HeartLoop calculator on this page to compute your exact Day Master and Five Elements ratio in 3 seconds.
- What is my 2027 fortune based on my birth date?
- 2027 is the Year of the Red Fire Goat (Ding-Mi, 丁未). Rather than relying on birth-year zodiac alone, HeartLoop cross-references 2027 Fire-Earth energy against your personal Day Master and solar-term month pillar to pinpoint your peak months for career, wealth, and love.
